Our origins

Sage Yoga is wisdom born of pain. After a 2-year battle with cancer, our founder was left with severe nerve damage and chronic pain. Medication didn't help. So he reorganized his approach to Yoga and Feldenkrais to create a unique way to unwind his body through gentle, self-directed micro movements.

All of us face unique physical, emotional, and mental challenges in the process of maturing. Movement is the source of touch, which is the primal sensation that gave birth to all sensory experience. Almost 80% of the movement brain is dedicated to the upper spine and jaw. Touch means movement. The other senses--hearing, taste, smell and seeing are located on and around the face in close proximity.

As we explored ways to free the range of physical movement and awaken the senses, we learned to listen to pain and to follow  pathways of relief and pleasure that arise in the body.

Aging and illness are part of life. You tailor Sage Yoga to rejuvenate your body by arousing deep patterns of pleasure that appear as you shift from voluntary to involuntary responses. Sage Yoga is non-doing. You ease through tiny incremental movements on your own or with a partner until your body begins to glow with youthful vitality.
